  DENVER ZOO ANNOUNCES IMPORTANT STAFF CHANGES
New and Promoted Staff to Improve Zoo Operations
Denver Zoo is excited to announce the two following staff changes to maintain the zoo's strong emphasis on animal care.
Michael Stern joins the Denver Zoo team as Primate Area Supervisor, with more than 20 years of experience in animal care and conservation both in zoos and in the wild. Most recently Stern and his wife, Rebecca Goldstone, have been in Uganda working on their Kibale Fuel Wood Project for the past five years. The project empowers local communities to meet their own fuel needs without cutting down the forest and displacing the animals within it. The project is now run almost entirely by local staff, allowing Stern to return to a zoo career. He started his new position in April and his duties include ensuring that the zoo's 125 primates receive the best care by coordinating with zookeepers, veterinarians and maintenance staff.
Rebecca McCloskey has been promoted to Area Supervisor of Asian Tropics. McCloskey has been with Denver Zoo since 2009, working as a zookeeper in the state-of-the art Predator Ridge exhibit. Prior to Denver Zoo she worked as a supervisor at Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. In her new position, McCloskey is helping coordinate the animal arrivals and hiring and management of additional staff for the Asian Tropics exhibit. Once the exhibit is complete she will oversee all its day-to-day operations as well as the historical pachyderm building.
