New Polar Bear Comes To Denver Zoo – This Thanksgiving, Denver Zoo is thankful for a new arrival, a male polar bear named Lee, who will be 12 years old on Sunday. Lee comes from Detroit Zoo as part of a Species Survival Plan recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which ensures healthy populations and genetic diversity among zoo animals. At Denver Zoo, Lee will be paired with a 10-year-old named Cranbeary after he has become accustomed to his new habitat. Learn more.
Asian Tropics Shows True Shape – Every day at the Asian Tropics construction site, buildings, fencing, landscaping, rock work, animal transfer areas and more show the true shape of the exhibit. Animals slowly are moving into buildings that have been completed. Public viewing railings, for example, are being installed on the Alex, Jack and Catherine Philpott Gibbon Island Boardwalk. Guest pathways and animal transfer areas are becoming more defined. Much of the major work continues on the east side where crews are trying to complete the Kamala Café, near the McGrath Family Amphitheater where guests can view animal demonstrations. Learn more.
