Toyota Elephant Passage

Mimi and Dolly Move Into New Home – Denver Zoo elephants Mimi and Dolly traveled by crate to their new home, Toyota Elephant Passage, on Thursday. Guests will miss the girls at this year's Zoo Lights event, which begins Friday night. However the move allows staff and elephants time to get acclimated to their new 10-acre home featuring six interconnected habitats and more than 100 gated passageways. Mimi and Dolly have been training for this move throughout the summer and fall. Thursday, their training paid off as zookeepers moved the crates via crane and truck to the elephants more spacious exhibit, Toyota Elephant Passage. Learn more.

Toyota Elephant Passage

Toyota Elephant Passage Name of New Exhibit – Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Denver Zoo Board Chair Katie Schoelzel and Zoo President/CEO Craig Piper on Monday announced a multimillion dollar partnership between the zoo and regional Toyota dealers to sponsor the zoo's new 10-acre exhibit for Asian elephants, greater one-horned rhinos and Malayan tapirs. Toyota's generous support completes the zoo's campaign to raise private matching funds for the zoo improvement bond program overwhelmingly supported by Denver citizens in 1999. The partnership makes Toyota the zoo's official automotive partner and provides the zoo with a title sponsor for the exhibit, which officially has been named Toyota Elephant Passage. The exhibit will open June 1, 2012. Learn more.
