Kudu Calf Explores Yard – Denver Zoo recently welcomed the birth of a lesser kudu calf, born March 19. The young male, named Martini, was born to mother, Dakarai, and father, Fred. Martini is very confident already and loves running around his yard and studying the lappet-faced vultures that share his exhibit. Lesser kudus, antelopes native to the forests of eastern Africa, are known for their spiral-shaped horns and vertical white stripes that serve as excellent camouflage in the wild. Visitors can see Martini now exploring the kudu yard with his herd. Watch video of Martini here.

Denver Zoo offers an informative and extremely popular website that has helpful information to complete your estate and financial plans, including interactive tools, timely articles and a gift illustrator. Join the Wildlife of the Mongolian Steppe – Explore the lives of Mongolia's unique grassland animals and help conserve their wilderness home with the Wildlife of the Mongolian Steppe expedition. Denver Zoo is partnering with Earthwatch, a non-profit organization that sends volunteers from all walks of life across the world to assist scientists on environmental research expeditions. We're recruiting volunteers for this project to work with well trained staff in central Asia to study the lives and movements of many species, including argali sheep, Siberian ibex and cinereous vultures. A minimum contribution of $3395 is required to participate to cover costs associated with this trip. Learn more about Earthwatch and the expedition here.
