Chick Thrives with Zookeeper Help –
Behind-the-scenes in the Avian Propagation Center, bird keepers are hand raising an Abyssinian ground hornbill chick that hatched on May 20. In captivity these birds are known to live 40 to 45 years, but are a challenge to breed. Keepers have been using a hand puppet to help raise and feed the chick. The hope is that it can infuse some youth into the aging captive population in North America. Watch a video of the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill chick.

Stretch the reach of your IRA! –
Many advisors point to retirement plan assets as some of the best to leave to charity because they can be taxed more heavily than other estate assets. If these assets are left to heirs they are subject to income taxes and if left to someone other than a spouse, they are subject to income and possibly estate taxes – a double taxation. If you are able to make other provisions for your family, please consider a charitable gift from your IRA, from a small portion to the entire amount, to Denver zoo after your lifetime. It is an excellent way to stretch every dollar and support zoo programs across the globe! Learn more about making a charitable contribution with your IRA.
