Lesser Kudu Herd Grows by One - Lesser kudu "Schnapps" was welcomed into the world in late December by his mother Dakarai and is healthy and happy exploring his yard. Lesser kudus are a forest antelope native to north-eastern Africa. They are grey-brown to chestnut in color, have white stripes on their backs and two distinct white markings on the underside of their necks. Eventually Schnapps will grow long, spiraling horns, characteristic of the males of the species, which can grow up to 28 inches long. He has been introduced to the rest of the herd and can be seen on exhibit on warm days.
