“Every time you visit you help animals!”
|
The Conservation Biology Department conducts and supports important field conservation initiatives around the globe. Each year the department identifies new and important conservation projects, and the more money we raise, the more projects we can support! Your generosity will allow us to continue our investment in ongoing conservation efforts and expand to assist other vital projects worldwide.
During Your Visit
Denver Zoo has many small ways that visitors can make a BIG difference for animals large and small. During your visit you can become a conservation crusader with just the change in your pocket. Here’s how:
- Take a spin on our Endangered Species Carousel. Each carousel animal represents one of the world’s 48 most charismatic endangered species. A percentage from every ticket sold goes directly to Denver Zoo’s Conservation Biology Department, which actively works to save such wonderful animals.
- Round up for conservation! When you visit any of our three gift shops, simply tell the cashier you want to “Round up for Conservation,” and they will round up your purchase to the nearest dollar and donate the extra cents, now that is purchase power! Additionally, you can purchase bookmarks featuring key species we work to protect for $1. All proceeds go directly to the Conservation Biology Department!
- Pick your cause and “Change the World” one quarter at a time. As you visit with the Great Apesthe the Zoo, add your change to the conservation project of your choice, and the Conservation Biology Department will match your donation! Currently we have three awesome conservation projects to choose from, all of which are led by dedicated Denver Zoo staff members.
1) Front Range pika project
2) Kibale fuel wood project
3) Undergraduate scholarhsips for students in Kenya

Sponsor-a-Trunk Education Program in Mongolia*
A great way for schools, businesses, and individuals to make an impact in one of the last wild places on earth! Your contribution will allow Denver Zoo to expand conservation education in Mongolia. Nomadic Nature Trunks are full of curriculum and supporting materials that empower schools and communities all over Mongolia to take conservation action by teaching them about local biodiversity, conservation issues, and how they can make a difference.
The trunk program is currently operating on the Mongolia’s Eastern Steppe and throughout Dornogobi Province, where Ikh Nart Nature Reserve is located. The program has proven successful thus far; participant

schools now ask for their own trunks because they believe it to be such a valuable program for their students. With your help, we can replicate these trunks to provide broad access to these much-needed, unique educational experiences that increase awareness and promote sustainable development. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will contribute to the creation of duplicate trunks throughout Mongolia. See below for what your donation can do:
$10 = 10 bug viewers
$25 = 1 puppet
$100 = cost of trunk itself
$1000 = fully funded trunk (includes all materials, shipping costs, and transportation for one year)
Make your contribution to a Trunk now!
* This program is made possible by partner support from Conservation Ink and Nomadic Nature Conservation. For more information on the Sponsor-a-Trunk Program, please email our Conservation Education Coordinator, Meghan Rubinstein at mrubinstein@denverzoo.org.
