Today I arrived back in Maun after traveling for a total of 22 hours…wow! It felt good to be back in Botswana and this time the weather was more forgiving. Joining me on this trip was my colleague Molly, who was experiencing Botswana for the first time. Together Molly and I will be spending two weeks visiting various communities throughout Botswana and conducting educational activities and conservation outreach.

Denver Zoo has been involved in research in Botswana since 2000, studying a variety of species such as African wild dogs, brown hyeanas, cheetah, lappet-faced vultures and lions. With all the amazing researching being conducted, we decided it would be a great opportunity to begin working with the communities that live so closely next to the wildlife we are studying.
