Sea Lion

Denver Zoo is home to 5 sea lions. Bismarck the sea lion is a very special addition to Denver Zoo. Rescued by the Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC), Bismarck was found without back flippers and undernourished in March of 2008. Thanks to the dedication of his caretakers at PMMC and Denver Zoo staff, he has grown to a healthy 132 pounds! Sea lions get more fish in the winter than in the summer, to help pack on the blubber to weather cooler temperatures.
