6-8 year olds

Dig a little deeper into animal and environmental topics through hands-on investigations, animal observations and encounters, zoo tours and fun activities designed for kids wanting to explore more of the zoo.

If I Were Nocturnal
Have you ever been called a ‘night owl’?  Wish you could stay up all night?  Explore the after-dark world of animals that make their living at night, and find out what adaptations you’d need if you really were nocturnal.

Creatures Have Class
Get ready to be a star student in our Creature Classification Class!  You’ll discover how much you already know about the characteristics that make mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish unique from one another.

Skull Science
We’re all bone-heads in this fun look at the skull inside.  What types of animals have skulls?  What are they good for?  Get hands-on with a variety of animal skulls, and examine things like teeth, nose shape and eye size to decipher which animal is which!

Animal Gross-ology
Are you a fan of soft, cuddly and cute animals?  Take a peek at the other side…the icky secrets of the animal world - like blood sucking, vomit slurping and poo nibbling.  Ewww!  Find out why certain animals have seemingly gross habits, and what benefits they get from them.
