Action for Elephants
Mimi and Dolly, Denver Zoo’s Asian elephants have been visitor favorites for decades.  Join us to learn more about these gentle giants…Did you know that female Asian elephants live together in big herds led by the largest and oldest matriarch?  How about that elephants can communicate via low frequency rumbles that travel up to 5 miles?  Sadly, Asian elephants are endangered due to loss of habitat and poaching for ivory. It is estimated that only 30,000 Asian elephants remain in the wild.  Find out how people just like you can help Asian elephants, and what Denver Zoo is doing to further the cause.

Project Golden Frog

Golden frogs are critically endangered due to habitat loss and the spread of an amphibian fungus. In response to the decline of golden frog populations, a group of concerned biologists formed Project Golden Frog.  The group’s single goal is to ensure the survival of one of the most well known, culturally significant, and charismatic amphibians in the world.  Learn more about golden frogs, Denver Zoo’s part in the project, and how you can contribute to their survival.
Saturday, November 14          1:00-3:30 pm

Big Bad Wolves?
Wolves have been a topic of debate in areas as simple as classic children’s stories or as complex as the reintroduction to Yellowstone National Park.  Spend time observing the zoo’s Arctic wolves and discover the importance they play in the ecosystem.  Then, talk with your fellow DZ Naturalists about what you think should happen with wolves in Colorado.
Saturday, December 12          1:00-3:30 pm

A Place for Polar Bears
Polar bears are a favorite of kids who visit Denver Zoo, and with good reason.  They are amazing creatures who are specially adapted to survive in harsh Arctic environments.  But scientists warn that climate change could bring hard times for polar bears.  Get to know the polar bears at the zoo, explore their wondrous adaptations, and talk about what you can do to combat climate change.
