Join Mike's Camera and Denver Zoo for a wild photography workshop. You will get class instruction at the Denver Mike’s Camera location followed by an early morning, private, up-close animal experience and a guided walking tour at the Denver Zoo. You will receive hands-on photography instruction and get to test your skills long before the doors opens to the public.
The Thursday evening class will consist of tips and tricks for improving your composition, instruction on exposure, exposure value, and controlling depth of field for achieving stunning wildlife images.
Sunday you will get a private walking tour at Denver Zoo with an assigned zoo docent. You will enjoy two custom tailored special animal experiences - an exclusive private photo sessions with stars from the zoo’s Wildlife Show and a private tour of Tropical Discovery, where attendees can photograph a variety of fresh-water and marine fish and exotic turtles that can be seen swimming in the 2,250-gallon cerulean blue pool, followed by another up-close animal feeding.
During the private guided tour of the zoo, staff from Mike’s Camera will be on hand to answer any technical questions and provide you hands-on assistance and instruction to ensure you learn the tricks to capture sensational wildlife images in the beautiful morning light. Animal showings will vary seasonally.
Monday evening the experts from Mike’s Camera will review your work and offer tips and tricks to continue to improve your animal photography.
Sunday, May 26 - Morning on-site safari at Denver Zoo

Check in at Denver Zoo’s main entrance
- Walking tour begins – an opportunity to photograph lions, hyena, water buffalo, cheetah, big-horn sheep and various birds as the rising sun begins to shine
- Gather at the Wildlife Theater to photograph up-close animal encounters
- Walk through the zoo photographing a variety of animals from Predator Ridge to Tropical Discover
- Special presentation at Tropical Discovery

End official safari at Tropical Discovery
You can either conclude your day at Tropical Discovery photographing one of the many creatures, like a yellow spotted side necked turtle or spend the rest of the day individually honing your photographic skills.
Register early as these workshops are limited to only 25 people!
About the Instructors:
Brian Rabin is a certified photographic consultant and sales person at Mike’s Camera in Boulder. Brian is a seasoned photographer and a lead instructor at Mike's Camera. He is well known for his enthusiasm and passionate instruction style and brings over 20 years of experience in various photographic disciplines including event photography, portraiture, macro and street photography. His work has appeared in one-man shows, group exhibits and has been published in national and local magazines.
Mike Dobson is the operations manager at Mikes Camera. Mike is an experienced photographer and has a vast knowledge from the camera to the photo lab process to achieving great output from a variety of image sources. He has photographed around the world while working on Princess and Norwegian Cruise lines and was the lead cruise ship photographer. In addition, Mike is an educator, a wedding photographer and a published photographer. Mike enjoys photographing his kids as well as macro and sports photography.
Mike’s Camera will provide each participant with a 16x20-inch coupon code to print any image you choose from your Photo Safari Workshop.
Photo Safari workshops are limited to 25 photographers, 12 years and older. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult 18 years or older.

$95 per person and includes instruction, private viewing and access to restricted animals and a great variety of photographic opportunities for the entire day!

Variety of lenses from wide angle to zoom (macro lens is good for Tropical Discovery)
