ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS
The Denver Zoo’s Community Leadership Program (CLP) facilitates environmental service-learning opportunities for 3rd-6th grades and is now offering a unique program for high school students.
This unique program will take place at your school and also includes a field trip to Denver Zoo and Denver Water's Recycled Water Plant (transportation costs are reimbursed by Denver Water)!
This special program is limited to schools located in the Denver Water service area. Teachers must apply for this program. Click here to download application.
Enthusiastic high school environmental science classes or classes whose goals are to engage students in hands-on, inquiry-driven, community and career-based programming are a great match for the program.
This program is a joint venture between Denver Zoo, Denver Water, and the teacher so it is imperative that the teacher participates by teaching the supplemental lessons provided.
Maximum of 30 participants per class.
We are accepting applications for fall 2014. This program has 12 lessons to be facilitated over approximately a 10-18 week period. We encourage you to plan and submit an application for this program far in advance.
Dates and start times vary, according to your scheduling needs and our availability.
12 total lessons:
• 8 Denver Zoo/Denver Water-facilitated lessons
• 4 teacher-facilitated lessons - Click here for a program overview.
All lessons, with the exception of the field trips, are 60 minutes in length.
Denver Zoo & Denver Water staff will work with the teacher to schedule a meeting to outline the program and teacher-facilitated curriculum, discuss logistics for projects, etc.
The total program cost is $780.
All transportation costs are reimbursed by Denver Water!
