Denver Zoo has teamed up with Mike’s Camera for its first annual Photo Safari Contest. With more than 3,800 animal residents, Denver Zoo provides the perfect subjects for photo-bugs of all ages.
Participants in multiple categories will have the opportunity to win a free Denver Zoo Photo Safari program, Mike’s Camera gift cards and even have their photo featured in Denver Zoo’s 2011 calendar! One adult and child category entry will be crowned the “Best in Show” and will receive a behind the scenes tour for up to four guests!

Dates:
The contest begins 5/22/10 and ends 7/23/10. All entries must be submitted no later than 7/23/10 to:

Eligibility:
The contest is open to all amateur photographers, defined as anyone who earns less than 25% of their income through photography. Only photographs taken at Denver Zoo are eligible for contest entry. Photographs must be taken between 5/22/10 and 7/23/10. Employees of Mike’s Camera, Denver Zoo, their families and Denver Zoo volunteers are not eligible to enter. Entries are limited to one per person. Registration form must be attached to submission email or included in envelope with submitted DVD. Entries without a registration form will not be accepted.
Photographs:
Entrant must take all photos. Entries may be taken with any brand camera. Photos must be in color and submitted as jpeg files. All entries must be 8”x12” at 300 dpi. All photographs will become property of Denver Zoo and Mike's Camera. Winners may be required to provide photos at full resolution.
Judging:
A panel of judges will evaluate the work and award the appropriate prizes. The judges will be a combination of Mike’s Camera and Denver Zoo employees. Decision of the judges is final. Criteria will include composition, imaginative subject treatment and overall photographic quality. Winners will be notified by mail after August 13, 2010.

FACEBOOK PIC OF THE MONTH
Each month, May through July, Denver Zoo and Mike’s Camera will be hosting a pic of the month photo contest. Visit the Mike's Camera Facebook page and download your best shot to be voted on by Facebook fans. The pic with the most likes every month will receive 4 general admission passes or 4 Zoo Lights passes and 16"x20" mounted print of the image from Mike's Camera!
