POOP TO POWER: GASIFICATION AT DENVER ZOO
Let the zoo be your laboratory as you explore the science of sustainable energy. Design, construct and test mini-gasification reactors in this 3-hour science laboratory program highlighting how trash becomes energetic treasure in our newest exhibit, Toyota Elephant Passage. This laboratory includes a guided tour of the sustainable features of the exhibit.
This lab is perfect for groups of 10-30 students in grades 5-12, but can be offered to larger groups. To learn more about the Poop to Power program, click here.
IMMERSION WORKSHOPS
Immersion programs provide a unique view of the zoo in a special multi-contact experience. Our goal is to connect students to their local community, inspire action and awareness, and to empower students to become animal ambassadors. Students will work in small groups to learn about an endangered animal that Denver Zoo is working to conserve, and then with the use of zoo props, use their new found knowledge and inspire guests to help save their species! Some of the species of focus are found in tropical Asian ecosystems. This program is highly customizable, so please contact the Logistics Specialist at 720-337-1408 for more information.
