Spend School Break Days at the Zoo

International Vulture Awareness Day
Saturday, September 3, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Join Denver Zoo and celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day. These birds play a vital role in many ecosystems around the globe but many are either threatened or endangered. Come explore the different species of vultures at Denver Zoo and learn about these unique creatures and the conservation efforts to help save these birds of prey. You can stop by activity stations, chat with a keeper, see a vulture fly over your head at our Wildlife Show and visit our four vulture exhibits.
Free with zoo admission.
Colorado Corridors Project
Wednesday, September 7
Trips will be led by staff from Denver Zoo and the Center for Native Ecosystems. Participants will meet at 10 a.m. on each of the dates at the Vail Pass rest area at exit 190 off Interstate 70. Trips will conclude around 2 p.m. and are limited to 15 people. All participants must be in good physical condition, able to walk or hike on varied terrain at high elevations, willing to follow data collection protocols, and have transportation to and from the field site.

Brew At The Zoo

Note: The zoo will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 9 to prepare for Brew At The Zoo.

Tickets available until 5 p.m. Friday, September 23. Tickets will not be available at the door.
Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and their families are invited to the zoo for a special after-hours event that meets scout requirements. Delve into the amazing adaptations of nocturnal animals as you watch the sunset and explore the zoo at night. Don't miss up-close animal encounters, an after-dark safari with real night-vision scopes, free carousel rides and treats, crafts, activities, entertainment and Scout Night commemorative patches!
A note about glow necklaces and lanyards: If you are planning to utilize glow jewelry or glow sticks for your troop or pack after dark, please advise them it is important to keep them on your person. The chemicals inside and the plastic itself can be harmful to the animals if left on the ground. Anyone observed tossing glow sticks or other materials into exhibits will be asked to leave. Thank you for helping keep our animals safe!

Zoo Lights

Come and experience a holiday light safari with more than 38 brilliantly-illuminated acres of lights, featuring more than 150 animated animal sculptures that swing through trees, jump across lawns, hide in bushes and appear in places where they’re least expected.
