Q: How old do children have to be to come to the Zoo by themselves?
A: Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a person 16 years or older.

Q: Where are your restrooms located?
A: We have restrooms at the Main Gate, Gates Education Center, Congo Basin, Bird World, Tropical Discovery, Giraffes, and in the Feline buildings. See our map for locations. Full-service restroom facilities that accommodate the physically challenged are available in Tropical Discovery, Primate Panorama and the Gates Center. Baby changing stations are available at all locations.

Q: Do you have any family restrooms or a place for nursing?
A: Yes, family restrooms are available at the Main Gate and are private for nursing.  We also have a family baby changing area at the restrooms located in Primate Panorama.

Q: Can I smoke anywhere in the Zoo?
A: No, but if you exit the Main Gate and get your hand stamped you may smoke in the designated smoking area and re-enter the Zoo.

Q: Can we bring our own picnic to the Zoo?
A: Yes, you may bring in picnics for small family gatherings and there are picnic areas in Giraffe Meadows and the Sycamore Grove across from the Okapi exhibit. We just ask that you do not bring straws, alcohol or glass containers. Why no straws? For the safety of our animals we do not allow straws on Zoo grounds. 

If you have a larger group to accommodate, we ask that you please contact our Rentals Department for more information at 720-337-1473.  In this case we do provide catering and all events must use our in-house catering department.

Q: Where do I park and is there a fee?
A: You may park in any of the parking lots adjacent to the zoo or our 4-level parking garage.  All of our parking is free.

Q: Are there any places to buy a meal?
A: Yes, Samburu Grille, Northern Shores and Brown Bear offer a variety of food items.

Q: Do you have any free days?
A: We have eight free days annually. They are listed at the top right hand side of this page.

Q: Do you have another gate?
A: No, the Main Entrance is now the only gate in operation.

Q: Do you have lockers to rent out?
A: We have baskets for storage that can be rented for $3 each.

Q: Do you have wheelchairs and wagons for rent?
A: Yes, we have push wheelchairs for $4(members $3)/day and electric scooters for $25/day (must be 18 years of age to operate; no reservations can be made, it is first come first served). Wagons are $5(members $4)/day and jeeps $8/(members $7).

Q: Do you allow heely shoes and skateboards?
A: No, for safety, self-propelled or motorized riding conveyances i.e. skates (wheels must be removed from heelies), skateboards, roller blades, scooters, cycles, big wheels, electric powered toys/riding toys, etc) are not allowed. 

Q: Do you allow pets?
A: No, for safety, pets of any kind are not allowed on Zoo grounds.  Assistance animals are allowed with some restrictions.  Please check in with security at the main gate if you plan on bringing a service animal to the Zoo.

Q: Are there other items that are not allowed in the Zoo?
A: Yes, for the safety of the animal collection, items such as balloons, confetti, flags, straws, boom boxes, loud toys, horns, laser pens, flashlights, stilts, etc., are not allowed. The Zoo reserves the right to refuse any other items that animal staff advises may cause distress to the collection.

Q: Can we feed the animals?
A: No, visitors may not feed, tease, throw objects at or attempt to contact any of the animal collection including the free roaming animals; violation is subject to removal from zoo grounds and/or prosecution.

Q: Do you have an ATM?
A: An ATM is located in the Kibongi Market at the Main Entrance.

Q: Where would I find an item I lost at the Zoo?
A: Located at the Welcome Center in the Main Entrance.

Q: Where can I find first aid?

A: We take care of "owies," and, if needed, paramedic service is available. Please ask any security officer or employee to assist you.

Q: Does the Zoo donate tickets?

What is a Timed Ticket and why is Denver Zoo using this system?
Timed ticketing offers visitors the ability to select specific times to enjoy Denver Zoo newest exhibit, Toyota Elephant Passage. With a timed ticket, a pre-established number of guests enter during each interval, allowing guests to enjoy shorter lines and a better viewing experience.


How much will my timed ticket cost?
Denver Zoo will be offering a Sneak Peek time period from May 19th – May 30th.  At which time you may purchase tickets to the exhibit for an additional fee.  Beginning June 1st, admission to the exhibit will be free, but, a timed ticket will be required.

Do I need a timed ticket to enter the zoo?
No, timed ticketing is only for access to the Toyota Elephant Passage exhibit. You may enter Denver Zoo at anytime and enjoy the park before or after your visit to Toyota Elephant Passage. Please arrive at Denver Zoo at least 1 hour before your time ticket time slot to allow plenty of time for parking and access the exhibit.  We estimate you will need at least 30 minutes to walk from the main gate to the Toyota Elephant Passage entry.  Your timed ticket will be required at the Toyota Elephant Passage entrance.  

Where do I get my Timed Ticket?
You may purchase tickets online or at the zoo.  Purchasing tickets online in advance will expedite your visit once you are here.  Same day tickets will only be available for purchase at the zoo.

I am coming to visit the zoo today but I don’t see any timed tickets on the website?
Online tickets are advanced sales only, for tickets the day of your visit please visit the box office.
What if I don’t get Timed Ticket online?
You may obtain tickets the day of your visit, based on availability, at the Denver Zoo Box Office.  We make every effort to accommodate guests without Timed Tickets. However, guests may experience a longer wait in entering the attractions.

Where do I park?
We anticipate being very busy during the opening of Toyota Elephant Passage and are recommending you arrive at Denver Zoo 1 hour before your timed ticket entry in order to find parking and make your way to the entry of Toyota Elephant Passage.  The exhibit entry is at least a 15min walk from the main gate of the zoo.

I am a Member. Do I need a timed ticket?
Members will need a timed ticket to enter Toyota Elephant Passage.  However, you do not need a timed ticket to enter the zoo.  Members are required to purchase general admission tickets for any guests accompanying them above and beyond their membership coverage and will need to obtain timed tickets for guest as well.

Where do I go to enter Toyota Elephant Passage?
Timed ticket entry will be on the East side of the Toyota Elephant Exhibit. You may access the area from either the west or east side of the zoo. No visitor entry will be allowed from the west side of the exhibit.

How long will it take me to get to the exhibit?
Please anticipate at least 1 hour to find parking, enter the zoo and make it to the timed ticket entry.  We anticipate you will need 30 mins from the time you enter the zoo to get to the site, add 30 mins if you would like to see Tropical Discovery before heading to Toyota Elephant Passage.

What if I lose my tickets?
Please check in at any Box Office window to retrieve a new set of tickets.

What if I am late for my time slot?
Denver Zoo will make every effort to accommodate late arrivals, but, we recommend you plan to enter during your scheduled time to better enjoy your experience.

Do children need timed tickets?
Children ages 2 and under are do require a timed ticket, however, tickets are Free.  Requiring a ticket allows Denver Zoo to maintain a capacity for the exhibit and accommodate for strollers.

My reservation is for 10 a.m. The next slot is at 11 a.m. Can I only stay for one hour?
The time on your ticket only dictates when you may enter Toyota Elephant Passage. Once you’ve entered the exhibit, you can stay until the exhibit closes. We use a timed ticket entry system to control the flow of visitors and to ensure that you have a pleasant visit.

What do I do if I don't receive an email attachment with a barcode?
You may resend your tickets from our online ticketing system by Logging in and navigating to your Account section.  Once in your account information, navigate to the order history and re-send your tickets.  We advise double checking your email address in your account setting before resending tickets.  Also, be sure to check your spam or junk folder to see if was automatically sorted.

In addition, you may bring your order (confirmation) number to the ticket window along with a photo ID and have a new ticket issued.

Can I get into Toyota Elephant Passage with just my Membership Card?
Members can enter the zoo at anytime however, timed tickets will be required to enter Toyota Elephant Passage.  Sneak Peak tickets will be available May 19th – May 30 for an additional ticket price.  After the grand opening on June 1st, timed tickets will be required to enter the exhibit through August 19th, free of charge.   We recommend you obtain your timed tickets prior to your visit, reservations are required and space is limited.
