Endangered Species Day

Animals that live here and around the world need our help! Many species are threatened or endangered and our simple, everyday actions can help protect wildlife and their ecosystems. Join us for zookeeper talks, animal demonstrations and activity stations to learn how taking simple actions, like saying “No, thanks!” to straws and single-use plastics, purchasing products that use sustainably sourced palm oil, or recycling your smartphones and electronics, can save many of the animals we know and love. Join Denver Zoo’s zookeepers and resident animal ambassadors in our cause and spring into action this Endangered Species Day!

*Included in general admission

Tips for Having a Great Visit

  1. Come to the Zoo early! It’s a winning combo: many of our animals are more active right when we open, and our parking lot is decidedly less active! If you’re a member, take advantage of your early access and get that extra half hour here at the Zoo.
  2. Come to the Zoo late! After lunch, people tend to head home, which means 2 PM is a prime time to visit if you’d like to feel like you have the Zoo to yourself. But don’t come too late! Gates close at 4, and grounds close by 5 PM.
  3. Check out our daily schedule! One of the best ways to see our animals is to sit in on keeper talks and demonstrations. Check our page or app on the day you visit to see what we have in store.
  4. Get those discounts! We offer a $2 discount for guests with a B-cycle membership, a current RTD transfer slip or an EcoPass. Plus, you help the planet when you use public transportation. What’s better than that?
  5. Wear your walking shoes! We’re an 86-acre campus, so make sure you are dressed for comfort when you’re hoofing it around the exhibits.
  6. Have fun! Your admission is helping us care for our 3300 animals here as well as their counterparts in the wild.
