DENVER ZOO WELCOMES BIRTH OF MALAYAN TAPIR “UMI”
Denver Zoo is happy to welcome Umi (OOH-mee), a female Malayan tapir, born on May 6. Her name means “life” in the Malayan language and she is the third birth of her species ever at the Zoo. She is currently bonding with her mother, Rinny, behind the scenes at the Zoo’s Toyota Elephant Passage habitat, but both will soon venture outdoors when they are ready. To help support our newborn tapir please click here. Your contribution will help us continue to provide excellent care and enrichment for the new addition to our Denver Zoo family.

Kids at Spring Safari Camp DENVER ZOO’S COMMUNITY PARTNER FIRST STONE DEVELOPMENT PUTS NEW TOWNHOMES ON THE MARKET
Our community partner First Stone Development, LLC is excited to announce that their new development, Saola Townhomes in Sloan’s Lake, is now on the market. A portion of each sale in this 17-unit project goes directly to our conservation programs, as will portions of future sales of First Stone’s Vaquita Townhomes in the Highlands and Condor Townhomes on Tennyson. Each development was designed to create community awareness and support for the endangered species that it’s named after. The animal’s habitat will be incorporated in original architectural and landscaping designs, and a monument depicting the endangered animal’s image and history will be prominently displayed on the site.
